Eclipse Aviation Getting Very Close to FAA Certification On Eclipse 500 Aircraft

Areo-News is reporting that Eclipse Aviation is expecting full FAA certification for their Eclipse 500 very-light-jet (VLJ) in the very near future.  The retail price of the Eclipse 500 is expected to be in the $1.5 million range and currently has a provisional certification.  According to the article the final FAA testing is focused on the avionics suite for the Eclipse 500 called the "Avio" that is supplied by Avidyne.

Another interesting tidbit from the article was that some 'modern' features like GPS navigation and weather radar will be delivered at leas six months after FAA certification.  A retrofit service is already beeing planned by Eclipse to address this.
